AAJA-Asia VP of Hong Kong, Ramy Inocencio, is featured on AAJA.org for Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. Ramy is our dear leader for the second annual media conference with AAJA-Asia and JMSC-HKU.
I am getting excited for the 2012 AAJA-JMSC media conference this Saturday May 12 at the University of Hong Kong. Over 15 AAJA members traveled across Asia to attend the conference.
This is the second media conference organized by the Asia chapter of Asian American Journalists Association and HKU’s Journalism & Media Studies Center. I help put together a social media panel which featured CNN’s Kristie Lu Stout, Hong Kong-based social media consultant Jay Oatway and Knight Center for Digital Media Entreprenuership’s Dan Gillmor to discuss the best practices for journalists to use social media in 2012. I also invited the director of Asia’s first social media lab, James She, to talk about the science behind social media.
We will have a session on mobile journalism and a hands-on interactive editing demonstration on Instagram.
The full program can be found here.
We have a great line-up of speakers for the conference. How often do you get to attend a journalism conference in Hong Kong? Here is your chance! It’s not too late to register. Register before Thursday May 10 for the discounted rate at HK$300 for general public and HK$100 for students. Register now.
Track the conversations online with the conference hashtag #AAJA12

I am promoting one of my favorite activities in Hong Kong - Instagram Photo Walks. I belong to this Instagram meetup group (#InstaMeet) where we do photo walks once a month. We are celebrating the tenth photo walk since our group was established ten months ago. Don’t know what Instagram is? It’s a photo sharing social media mobile app that uses the principles of Twitter. Currently this app is only available on Apple’s iOS devices but it’s coming to Android soon! Here is the text about the photo walk, any questions, feel free to ask me! I am involved behind-the-scenes of this group.
I welcome any photo lovers whether you use Instagram or not to join us! Especially if you are visiting Hong Kong!
