I’ve been on hiatus on IG in the past few months because I’m planning a regional journalism conference in #HongKong, May 24-26. I’m really excited about this conference because we are gathering some of Asia’s best and veteran journalists to #n3con.
I want to invite you to the opening reception on Friday May 24 from 6:30pm - 9:00pm at Pier 7 Café & Bar. #aaja
I’m running a photo contest for work at Asia Society Hong Kong Center and you are all invited to participate!
What is Asia Society Hong Kong Center?
It’s a non-profit education institute aims to strengthen cultural exchange between United States and Asia. The Hong Kong Center is a heritage site which houses two former explosive magazines from the 19th century.
Theme: To capture unique perspectives of Asia Society Hong Kong Center. Bonus point will be to capture the horizontality of the Center as it is unusual in a vertical skyscraper city like Hong Kong.
Contest runs from January 31 through March 31, 2013
Why: Asia Society Hong Kong Center is celebrating one-year anniversary in February 2013 since the Center opened in its new home in Admiralty and we want you to visit us if you haven’t been to our site yet. During this two-month period, we are showing our exhibition on Hong Kong designs which showcases 12 designers’ art works. (Some of them are visually engaging; don’t miss the opportunity to photograph it)
How: Upload your favorite photos to Instagram, Twitter, Google+ and Facebook (facebook.com/asiasocietyhongkong) and tag your photos #ashk1
Thanks for participating and I will pick 10 best photos from the submissions and prizes will be given out to 10 winners in April. Your photos will also be featured on our blog asiasociety.org/hong-kong.
Have fun! (at Asia Society Hong Kong Centre)

“Old News” is what my former manager at the newsroom would say all the time. “New Year, New You.” No more old news from me I hope. Happy 2013! Photo taken on December 25, 2012 at Wudaoying Hutong, #Beijing #latergram #nofilter #squaready (at Beijing, China)
Hello freezing #Beijing! It’s -13C outside and many thanks to @igersbeijing’s @rosarennt venture out in the cold with me. We spotted these folks who aren’t afraid of the cold to glide on ice with their makeshift chair-ski next to the birds’ nest stadium. Awesomeness. #igersbeijing #北京 This cold weather reminded me of NYC. (at 国家体育场 National Stadium)
Just went to the grand opening of the #CausewayBay #AppleStore. I think this store is gorgeous. A good addition to Hysan Place. #reflection #hongkong #picyourcity (at Hysan Place 希慎廣場)
I can’t wait. Two more days before this Apple Store Grand Opening in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong on Saturday Dec 15th, 2012. It reminds me of the three-stories-high store in West Village, New York - West 14th Street. Rock on grand opening! :) #nofilter (at Causeway Bay 銅鑼灣)
The sign is in Chinese reading from right to left, “Lei Yue Mun Neighborhood Association”. The photo is taken at #hkinstayay17 photo-walk on Dec. 8, 2012. I heart #hkinstayay :) (at Lei Yue Mun 鯉魚門)

I’m so excited HKInstayay is back!!!!
Get excited Hong Kong! What: HK Instayay 17. No seriously, what?: Instayay is a monthly photo-walk and meetup for local Instagrammers. Everyone is welcome. When: Saturday, December 8, starting at 1pm. Where: Meet at the Yau Tong MTR station, exit A2. From there, we will walk to Lei Yun Mun, a coastal village famous for its dynamic seafood markets. After exploring the village, we’ll take an (optional) hike up to Devil’s Peak and check-out the old military bunkers while taking in stunning views of Hong Kong’s skyline. Why: Dude, Instayays are FUN! They’re also an amazing way to make new friends, explore Hong Kong, and geek out with other Instagram and photography enthusiasts. What else should I know? Go to to our Facebook page - HK Instayay - to sign up. Include your IG usernames. This is important ;) Eat before the event starts. We will most likely have a group dinner or split into groups for dinner after the yay, depending on how many people show up. Devil’s Peak is only 222 meters high, but it’s a steep climb. Bring water if you plan to do the hike. We hope to see you there. Your hosts, @jethromullen and @twheat
